Many a time, family members have asked me what I would like for my Birthday/Christmas and I’ve found it very difficult to come up with an answer. Often, I know they won’t understand crochet terminology or all the gadgets that come with it. This is a gift guide for what I would like, just to help you out, I am in no way demanding these things, but thought it would be useful to have some ideas and pictures. You can also use this gift guide if you aren’t my family, but you do have family members who Crochet, and likewise, you can use this guide if you are a Crocheter and would like to try something new or would like a list of ideas you can ask for.
Yarn swift– very useful for winding hanks into balls. Otherwise, it ends up in a very knotty mess and a lot of stress (RRP are around £30-£40, so you can shop around for this)
Sock blockers– So I can take pretty pictures of my crochet socks as well as block them to shape (I am a UK size 4, you can find these on Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Woolwarehouse and other yarn shops. I don’t mind if they are wooden or metal, but I would like two to make a pair please.
Sock yarn– The greatest present of them all. The make up of Sock yarn is essentially it is 4ply, it has superwash wool and nylon(mostly it is 75% wool and 25% nylon) and sometimes the label will say it is sock yarn. I have included my shopping basket from woolwarehouse, where you can see what sock yarn I would like, but you may also shop around. Brands of sock yarn include Regia, Opal etc.
Crochet hooks– I always misplace my hooks. You can shop around for hooks, I don’t mind as long as they have a handle!
Embroidery scissors– Similarly to my hooks, I misplace these all the time too! I don’t think you can ever have enough embroidery scissors or crochet hooks.
Wool wash– I would like this to wash my crochet socks with, I am often terrified that using normal detergent will felt my socks!
As you can see, my Christmas list is very Crochet orientated, particularly with socks. I am completely obsessed with making crochet socks at the moment. I wish I could knit socks, but that’s a whole other task in itself.
